Lights, camera...

With the term now over and the pace of life calming somewhat, this week offers the chance to get in to the concert-hall to set the lighting for the performances of Alice in Wonderland. A rare quiet period in the hall means the cherry-picker can be deployed, and we've been able to get up into the lighting rig to set and spot some of the lights for the production, and try out some of the visual effects.

It's been a useful opportunity to try out some of the ideas which have been germinating ever since rehearsals began two months ago, as we craft the dream-world in which Alice find herself, and into which she will lead the audience. Is it real, or was it all a dream, she wonders at the end of the performance, and we're building that half-world in the hall over the course of these two days.

We won't give the game away too much about what's in store, but here's a bird's-eye view from the cherry-picker, aloft in the roof, setting the lighting for the Hatter's Tea Party. To see the rest, you'll just have to come and see the performance...
